August

August 17, 2018

For many, August marks the start of school.  Years ago that was true for us also as teachers.  Now August marks some new events for us.

Our Summer Wine Club Picnic was last Saturday evening.  We had a great crowd here who enjoyed a visit with friends new and old, along with dinner and of course wine.

August is also the time when Michael is getting prepared for harvest.  The press, the crusher de-stemmer, the tanks and barrels will all be cleaned and ready to receive the grapes of young wine from this year’s crop.  He also gets some new wines in bottles- the new Early Twilight, Unoaked Chard and Barrel Chard are just a few.  And that special Cab Franc!

As the grapes ripen, he watches the sugars to see when they will be ready to pick.  The Chardonnay is usually the first to go and the reds will be throughout September and sometimes into October.  We hope to be able to keep the birds away.

So please, come by and see the grapes before they go.  Try some new wines or enjoy some old favorites.

Thank you wine club members for your continued support!
