Fresh from the Garden
It is that time of year, cool mornings and evenings and nice sunny afternoons. When Pearl and I arrived today we were walking around the remnants of my summer garden, amongst the weeds and morning glories. I thought maybe I would find a tomato or a pepper, but I was pleasantly surprised! My arms were full of tomatoes, peppers and eggplant! These are the pleasures of a garden, especially this time of the year. I think a Ratatouille will be the perfect side dish to go along with some lamb.
The grapes have been harvested and wine has been made and is now in the barrels to sit and mature. This can take a year or two and sometimes three or four. With fall here there is different work to be done around the farm. The vines are now losing their leaves and a single frost will speed that process along. Then we will begin the pruning of the vines to get them ready for the spring. The days will be shorter and we look forward to drinking our reds with a warm hearty soup or stew. What is your favorite Hanover Park wine to enjoy this time of year and what would you pair it with? We would like to hear from you.
