Eighteen Years
Eighteen years ago there were 10 wineries in the state of North Carolina. Most made sweet and fruit wines; a few produced dry wines. We had already been through one harvest and looking forward to our second. July 1, 2000 we opened our gate and our first visitors came in.
We were the first winery in Yadkin County; a dry county. Now we have over a dozen in Yadkin County! People were not sure about these people selling wine here. We greeted everyone and hoped to make everyone feel welcome and enjoy our wines and our farm. In time, others decided they were going to plant grapes and make wine. Many sat in our tasting room to watch, ask questions and learn, we were teachers.
We have worked very hard to create a place for people to come and relax and just enjoy. It makes us feel good to see the picnic tables full on a pretty Sunday afternoon with food and wine! We have met so many different kinds of people who are a part of our lives. Wine dinners and parties and sharing in special occasions, that’s what this is all about. And the River Cruises have brought so many together to travel and explore other cultures and their wines! And our Wine Club!!
Eighteen years open, thank you for sharing this with us!
